About Me

 

My name is Jair Claudio Pina Mendes and I was born in Sao Vicente, one of ten Islands which make up Cape Verde, an archipelago off the West Coast of Africa. I left Cape Verde when I was only five years old to join my parents here in America, whom had already settled into the Dorchester area of Boston, MA.

 

My education and work experiences landed me at Boston College where I changed my major a few times until I settled with communications. I was unsure of exactly what I wanted to do but communications seemed like a right fit. I was that kid at college that everyone came to when they had their computer problems or needed some help to make their presentations stand out. I should have been charging but I was always too eager to help out. I’m just that type of person. Boston College really instilled the whole Jesuit persona into me and I am proud of the person that I am today.

Today I am a very tech savvy individual that enjoys reading the latest tech blogs (engadget, neowin, gigaom, techcrunch, etc.) and constantly browsing the web for the latest Photoshop tutorials. I really enjoy the whole creative process and this has lead to my successful career as a designer. I have a strong production background and like to tackle new projects. With a moderate level of experience with web elements such as flash, html and css I have been able to produce many websites for friends, local businesses and companies. I am also very familiar with Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Homesite, and the Microsoft Office Suite. I typically prefer a PC over a MAC.

 

Lately I have been working mostly on web display ads for online campaigns. As most people that I have worked with will tell you, I'm a very flexible person that will work to meet deadlines and deliver the best quality work possible.
